Doulas, Tongue Tie & Breastfeeding Support

Private Tongue Tie Appointments

Nina & Lorraine are currently practicing as NHS Health Visitors with a special interest in breastfeeding and tongue-tie separations, and we provide a comprehensive service including the assessment, diagnosis and treatment for babies presenting with both feeding problems and tongue-tie.

We are mothers ourselves and know how important it is to get those early days of parenting right. Everyone wants that time to be magical, but for some the reality can be very different. A baby with a tongue tie can struggle to feed, causing both the baby and mother tremendous stress. It is our passion to help you adapt to your newborn as efficiently as possible so that you can get the most out of the experience of being a new parent.

As we have been tongue tie practitioners since 2007 we are highly experienced and have helped many families; both of us being qualified nurses, midwives and working health visitors. We also update our qualifications regularly, especially in tongue tie and most recently we studied at Wolverhampton university. There's always something new to learn.

If you are worried about your baby get in touch.

What do you get?

If your baby has a tongue-tie it may cause problems with feeding. NHS midwives and doctors do not always check for tongue tie, but if you suspect this could be the case ask your baby to be assessed. Tongue-tie division is a quick, simple procedure to release the a fold of skin that connects the tongue to the floor of the mouth.

Angela is usually able to offer tongue-tie division in the comfort of your own home and can usually arrange to see you within 48 hours. Angela has extensive breastfeeding knowledge and is able to provide support and feeding advice following division.

The simplest way to book an appointment is to text Angela with your email address and postcode to 07877 862 444.

The fee for assessment, release and feeding advice is £150*

*Should release not be recommended, an assessment fee of £65 will be payable.

Fully qualified Lactation Consultant, accredited by the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE).

Breastfeeding Support.

By the use of one to one private consultation in the comfort of your own home, I can support your breastfeeding needs and give you the information, help and practical advice that you may require.

I provide a service primarily within London and the surrounding areas, but regularly practice in Devon, Kent, Cambridgeshire, and the M3 - M4 corridor, so please contact me if you require help with a breastfeeding or infant feeding issue.

I can be flexible in the areas that I visit, so if you have any doubt, please contact me to discuss this further.

Additional travelling expenses will be charged for visits outside of London.

Tongue Tie.

In addition I am fully trained to preform the frenulotomy procedure, the division of tongue tie. This is sometimes a factor effecting a baby's ability to feed correctly.
For more information regarding tongue tie follow this link.

I do take referrals from GPs, Midwives, Health Visitors, Infant Feeding Advisors and Doulas, but parents are more than welcome to contact me directly for advice.

If in doubt please ask.

If you have any questions or need any further information regarding my services, please do not hesitate to ask me.

A postnatal Doula service is completely bespoke to fit the needs of you and your family but might encompass the following needs:

  • Support with your feeding choice
  • Taking some much needed rest
  • Being listened to
  • Grabbing a soak in the bath
  • Support for siblings
  • Cooking a nutritious meal
  • Taking the dog for a walk
  • Help with light household tasks

Family matters, it absolutely matters, those memories of birth and the time that follows are the start of something so precious, so unique, pure magic and fundamentally life changing. A life is given, parents are created, siblings bonded, why should it not be empowering and beautiful, the best it can be for you? My belief is it that it absolutely should be!

Please do get in touch if you would like to explore the support I can offer you further.

My role as a Doula UK recognised postnatal doula is to support you while you discover the mother you wish to be.

  • Would you like some guidance in baby care and understanding your baby’s cues?
  • Are you unsure about what ‘normal’ newborn behaviour is and would like someone to point you in the direction of evidence based information so you can make decisions based on fact rather than other people’s differing opinions?
  • Do you lack hands on support due to family not living locally and friends who are either working or busy looking after their own children?
  • If your baby is already here and you feel you’re struggling more than you expected to? Is every day another day to get through and you want to enjoy your baby more than you are?
  • Do you feel tearful and could do with a kind ear to listen and someone to reassure you?
  • Are you sleep-deprived and would love someone you trust to look after your baby for a few hours so you can lie down and rest?
  • Does everyone around you seem to have an opinion about feeding, sleeping and caring for your baby, but you want to find the way that’s right for you and your family?
  • Is this your second or subsequent baby and you feel torn between the needs of your newborn and older child/children and you haven’t even had a chance to think about looking after yourself?

I am available for sessions of 3-5 hours, for the number of days/weeks that you require.

Tasks I can help with include:

  • Listening to your birth story and helping you make sense of it if necessary.
  • Being a non-judgmental listening ear at what can often be a tiring and emotional time.
  • Supporting with infant feeding – whether you are feeding by breast, with formula or a combination of the two. I am able to signpost you to specialists if you need more qualified help than I can provide.
  • Looking after your baby so you can have a shower, go for a walk or just have some time to yourself.
  • Helping out with older siblings.
  • Light housework such as laundry, washing-up and general tidying.
  • Preparing snacks and making cups of tea.
  • Going shopping for anything you might need.
  • Accompanying you to appointments for moral support or an extra pair of hands.

Fee: £22 per hour, reduced to £20 for bookings of 20+ hours (inclusive of travel expenses)

Our health visitors and nursery nurses run 'drop-in' clinics across mid Surrey that offer nursing mums practical advice and support with breastfeeding.

A health professional with a specialist knowledge in breastfeeding will see you individually during a clinic session. We can observe a breastfeed if you choose. You will be offered practical help and information to support your breastfeeding. You will need to bring your Personal Child Health Record (Red book) and maternity records (if available).

Following your appointment, you may be offered further support at home or in a clinic, or by telephone. There will be ongoing support available at your local breastfeeding clinic or group.
